Tom Hanks for a while seemed intent on remaking every Alec Guinness film. Now he takes the Rodney Dangerfield role remaking “Back to School”.

It’s an odd artistic trajectory.

Actually the Rodney Dangerfield movie was a remake of a Bing Crosby picture called “High Time” from about 1960, and I think that might have been a remake from a picture made in the 1930’s.
I knew the Hanks picture was a bomb from the promo’s I saw.

I liked Tom Hanks better when he made movies like “Bachelor Party.”
