Good Morning to all. Closing Arguments are today.
I apologize in advance if you were either left off today's ping list or included in error. I am not at home and forgot to forward my pinglist to my friend's house, so I've had to check some older threads and reconstruct as many names as possible. If I missed you I'm sorry.
I probably won't be able to post much on this thread, but after I am home I will keep my ear to the television/radio for the jury decision, and will ping again when I hear so we can have a discussion thread.
Let me know if you want on or off the ping list.
have to go to another tv bbl
That stealth juror is always a concern. I heard that this is a ‘death penalty certified’ jury, so assume that means all of them in qualifying said they would or could go for the death penalty if that was deemed the appropriate sentence. Is there anything done beyond questioning the potential jurors about their willingness to impose the death penalty, and then taking their word as truthful?
Upthread someone posted that the judge decides the penalty but if that’s the case, why would jurors have to be death penalty certified?
AlL George had to do was look at the charges.
Remember CINDY was back in the office Bitching about how hight the charges were. $500 or so. I don’t know about FL but I doubt there are too many tow places that charge $500 for one day storage. Well maybe NYC.
Obv he stayed in a holiday inn express last night....
The larger part of Baez’s summation is for the jury, obviously, but he also has to preserve every possible reason to file an appeal, so that’s a secondary reason to throw in everything he can. Or, if he’s reading that the jury is already lost, that appeal would become primary.
Hi Everybody. I just got back and am trying to catch up on the thread. Regarding the above earlier post, try this addy (I can't link) to read more on this angle. (An inmate claims Casey told her she would chloroform the child to get her to sleep.)

No I do not want her set free. I want to find out the truth and can not from the State case. I agree with the defense about emotion. They say the murder weapon is the tape but have no proof.
Had to leave for a bit....have any of the commentators remarked how inapprpriate it was of Baez making a “cut the cheese” joke in the middle of his summation?
he IS a holiday inn kinda guy
Notice of car sent to home around the fourth of july. Anthonys did not go to get car till the 15th.
Ashton used the “CAYLEE beging to verbalize” We all know THAT had to hit home with Jurors. CAsey’s lies werejust a matter of time becoming known. What was she going to say CAYLEE is a LIAR, CAYLEE was DOOMED.
Well, we know not everyone tells the truth. Not saying these jurors didn’t. Just that it is a very compelling situation to be part of this jury.
Next, they will first have to find her guilty in a trial that has the defendant facing death by lethal injection. So that means that the jurors have to be able to come to a guilty verdict, with the defendant facing death.
Second, the jury recommends and votes for the sentence then the judge decides the sentence but in my past experience the judge usually follows the jury’s recommendation.
That's easy, because the DNA degraded from being out in the elements and humid Florida air. This was discussed very thoroughly at trial.
They’ve avoided it like the plague.
You keep forgetting that both the car and baby were in Casey’s custody not George’s. George only met up with the car when he went to the tow truck place. And, of course, he never met up with Caylee again.
Because a juror might hold out if he/she thought the judge would impose the death penalty, making them complicit in something they really oppose.
Stay tuned, it will come up in rebuttal. Bet on it.
Bob Massey and this judge on fox think prosecutions case was sufficient. Baez put burden on himself by over promising in his opening.
George either lied to Cindy when he said he had gambling debts or to the FBI when he said it wasn’t gambling, but:
http://www.myfoxorlando.com/dpp/news/FBI_interviews_with_Anthonys_released
“...It seems the financial problems for the Anthony family started long before their daughter was taking it from them.
George Anthony told investigators in this interview in early August that he lost the family’s fortune in an email scheme. I should have know better I was stupid, but every phone number and every address that was given to me I followed up with it everything sounded legitimate and I got scammed.
He said he fell for a scheme that said he had $2.2 million dollars in a foreign bank account waiting for him. he told the FBI it was stupid that he was smarter than that but the damage was done and his wife never knew. I did lie to my wife about that told her I was involved in some gambling type stuff and it wasnt it wasnt about that, it never ever, ever was. ...”
Casey is not a ‘bad seed’. She did not become the woman she is today in a vacuum. Lest anyone misunderstands, only Casey is responsible for her actions. But none of them are saints.
