Of Course. Saw this from a mile when I heard the song on the news. All these idiot musicians have something against conservatives. Chrissy Hyde sued Limbaugh over the theme. SO he payed up. John Mellencamp didn’t want McCain playing his song in 08. Other people ranted in the past. Losers.
I recall that he spoke about Hynde and said when she was asked about him playing that song, she asked ‘who’s Rush’. So when did a lawsuit take place?
Springsteen did this with Reagan over "Born in the USA", even though it's a a very anti-American tune. Not sure why the Reagan campaign didn't pick up on that. Mellencamp has also done this with republican candidates over politics. David Byrne of the Talking heads did this, but he stated that he doesn't want his music associated with ANY politics. I can actually respect that stance. When Michael Jackson bought the Beatles catalogue, he began to allow usage in TV commercials. Paul McCartney said it "bothered him heaps". But he didn't have standing since he sold the rights.
I would just use their songs until they complained, then switch to another one. You could easily get through the election season like that.
