Kevin Costner, every movie. The fact is the guy only has 1 facial expression and 2 tones of voice. He quite simply cannot act.
Nicolas Cage in anything....nepotism gone wild.
Kevin Costner in Dances with Wolves.
Or as Robin Hood. Or in Field of Dreams.
He sucks overall.
Not as bad a John Wayne being Ghengis Khan.
In reality, Edward G. spoke 8 languages total, and was a yiddish speaker until 10 when he came to the US from romania.
Someone posted the example of William Shatner as Alexander the Great. (I think it was a pilot for a series that never got aired. Thank God!)I actually have that on DVD. Yes I am a sucker for all things of the Classical Age no matter how bad! And boy is it bad ! So far no amount of beer has enabled me to sit through the entire DVD! I think I have had that DVD for at least 5 years and I have yet to see it to its entirety!
You're way off base. Bogart could play a variety of characters. Check out his Fred C. Dobbs in " Treasure Of the Sierra Madre" or his Queeg in "The Caine Mutiny." Bogart was excellent in those extremely dissimilar roles.
Boy , I’m with you 100% re. Lucas. I’ve always said that the original idea for SW came THRU GL not from him. The man ASPIRES to have one dimension! He’s a perpetual juvenile and thinks his audience is too.
Re. the acting in the original films- I have to agree with Shadowstrike, a few posts up.
Ford has ONE schtick- like Jim Carrey. Brooding, mumbling. He was his most animated in ANH- later the old pot-head that he is dominated. What other great films has he made outside of the Lucas/Spielberg umbrella?
Hamill, IMO, is a 100% more versatile actor. He has range- as evidenced by his Broadway work and his current voice work as the Joker. Not my cup of tea, that, but versatile and talented he is.
He was also a helluva lot easier on the eyes than Ford, IMO.
As for those in the ‘new’ SW films. All I can say is- will ANY of them be talked about 30 years from now, as the original actors are? I think not.
My vote for the worst ‘actor’ ,EVER, is William Shatner. Cringingly bad in everything.
