Except for South Park all these shows were on broadcast network TV.

In a few years or maybe even now, one could come up with a list of comparable cable shows. R. Lee Ermey would definitely have a place on the list.

Over time, there will eventually be more noteworthy cable than network shows. But they won't have had the same mass audience, though we'd be better off if they did.

How about American Pickers and Only in America, both on History Channel? Educational (and fun) as well.
