Magnum PI was, and is to this day one of my favorite shows, I never really considered it politically skewed one way or another, but Magnum certainly was a rugged individualist and I could see him voting for Reagan. Not to get off the topic, but their were a lot of good PI shows on in the 80’s Simon and Simon and The Fallguy come to mind. Then of course their was Miami Vice, but it got a little too pop cultury at times for my taste.

Selleck was the rare Hollywood Republican. Perhaps more ‘moderate’ than your average FReeper. But to be even moderately conservative in that business... well, to survive I guess you have to look like Tom Selleck.
Magnum was chosen for the list because it was the first time VN vets were shown in a positive light. Not that it really slanted one way or the other, or was particularly political, but that it could show VN vets as ‘normal’ people.

By the way, work on the "their/there" thing when you get a chance!
