I’ve heard that wearing bells in bear country will get them moving away from you, but I suspect that it only increases your chances of being ambushed by a cat.

There’s an old joke about how to identify bear scat. It has small bells in it and it smells like pepper spray.

Wearing bells invites hungry bears ( or wolf packs or lions or...) to find an easy meal.
Like ringing the dinner bell—do not believe the liberal line that bells will drive bears away.
