Christians believe that the site is important as a location chosen by God; often visited by Jesus; and a site that will play a key role in the last days.

Only a small segment of Christians, i.e., the millennialists, believe that last part, "a site that will play a key role in the last days."

It did (past tense) "play a key role in the last days," when the temple was destroyed in A.D. 70, thus fulfilling Jesus' prophecy. But that's it.

I’m not sure the millions of Believers who are “millennialists” is a “small segment”...

Right, hah, and Yeshua didn’t attend every single Feast day proclaimed by Yahweh: Passover, Unleavened Bread, FirstFruits, Shavuot, Rash Haushanah, Yom Kippur, Shukkot. Nor did he honor the Shabbat, wear tzit-tzits or a tillet and he did away with the Torah. All of his teaching were new, not related to or directly drawn from the first covent. When he referenced scriptures he was talking about the to written second covevent.

Neither did his disciples...

Gotcha...
