No, that means you will say what the lawyer wants you to say.

Numbers do not lie people who don’t want to deal with fact and reality often do.

Numbers may not lie but they surely can be inaccurate.
The lie arises when people present them as gospel truth without investigating their veracity.

For example you state "Pitts make up 7% of the pet dogs"

while our other "pitt" 'expert' states

"Pit bulls make up approximately 5% of the U.S. dog population."

I've seen other self professed 'experts' claim 1%

while others estimate, based on shelter populations, a much higher percentage, ex. 20+%.

Who is correct? Mostly likely no one because there is no accurate count.

Looking at the guesses of 5% vs 7% and using AVMA 2006 estimate of US dog population of 72 million.

7% ===> 5.04 million
5% ===> 3.6 million
difference ===> 1.44 million.....a rather substantial difference.

Which of you 2 experts is correct?

As a self professed expert your knowledge of "pitts", by your own admission,
comes not from owning them, nor training them, nor from substantial interaction with them
but rather is based on questionable data and sources
and on your simplistic theory of the function of these dogs.
(I have little trouble imaging you or someone like you using a very similar
argument in dealing with these 'killer dogs' from my neck of the woods)

They are a terrier and bulldog cross
and have characteristics shared with all other terriers and bulldogs.

Any type/breed of medium to large size,
which is not raised, controlled and trained in a responsible manner
will on extremely rare occasions injure or kill people.

For those of us not making money providing biased opinions in court,
our time is better spent educating the public about the principles of responsible dog ownership.
Principles that hold regardless of breed and if applied will always prevent dog attacks.

If you had to prepare for a case or two and study all the bites on a set of corners photos of a dead child you might just have a little different feeling in the pit of your stomach too

Excuse me, you don't know me well enough to question my integrity.
The facts and figures that I use are compiled by several different branches of our government and I have no input into how they arrive at any of the totals. So stick that where the sun doesn't shine and enjoy the ride. If you think that any “expert” can get up on a witness stand and say what anyone simply wants them to say unchallenged your are dumber than a a box of rocks. Every word I say has to be backed up by statistical data and explicit data, pictures, and official medical comment and it will always be challenged.
Every bite on a body has to be analyzed by the medical world from both sides. Every witness interviewed about every action, reaction, sound, and movement. All of this is then charted and mapped with time lines established. From all of this data I draw conclusions based on over 40 years working with dogs. I've caught well over a thousand different dogs on sleeves or in bite suits and trained more bomb, dope, and attack dogs than I can remember. I've interviewed many mauling victims who survived, witnessed autopsies of some who didn't and studied thousands of pictures of the damage done in in K-9 assault cases. You may be good with a keyboard but from that point on you simply display a total ignorance of what I do. Yes I get paid for this. It takes me at least a week to do the research I need to do if everything, including the dog, is handy. It takes twice that amount of time if I have to dig for everything. I get paid no matter if I testify or not. My income does not depend on my conclusions or if I support any point of view. Because of my integrity and honesty I get contacted about a couple dozen times a year for my specialty. I work on about half of those requests, manage to reach a conclusion on half of those, and end up in court on two or three. You have never seen the autopsy pictures of a young child who has been ripped apart and partially consumed by a pair of fuzzy cuddly pitt bulls. May you never be so lucky. Again, enjoy the ride.
