Actually, it’s a common breed trait.
They’re very “mouthy” and will frequently love their owners by holding onto them.
When I leave, he holds my hand briefly.
When I come home, he greets me by grabbing my hand and pulling me into the living room, whole-body-wiggling.
It’s the only way they have to “hold your hand”, really.
Odin falls asleep beside me with my hand held gently in his mouth fairly frequently.
I think it’s so I can’t “sneak off” without him knowing about it so he can wake up and follow me...:D
He does it so softly and lovingly that I don’t have the heart to deny him what seems to be a very psychologically ‘necessary’ display of his extreme affection.
He also mouths and nibble-grooms his pack mates’ necks and they love it so I reckon it’s a “dog language thing”.
