Nine men chasing a pronghorn for a full day with possible payoff of the meat from a 130 pound animal.

I’m sure somebody could run a calories expended versus calories obtained from a successful hunt analysis.

It doesn’t sound like a particularly efficient way to get food.

The Bushmen more frequently get just close enough to put a poison arrow or two into an animal, then chase it until it collapses.

“enough to put a poison arrow”

I always wondered how the bushmen, thousands of years ago developed some of their poison recipes? Just a berry or something I can see, but on one of those “Survivorman” shows he was out with the primitives and they gathered 4 or 5 ingredients, and then cooked it to dip their arrows in.

Although I suppose each ingredient they figured out was bad on its own - so combine them for even a worse effect.
