Solomon went bankrupt supporting the Revolution. Another Jew who is often fogotten is Francis Salvador. He was a member of the South Caroline legislature and died helping to protect South Carolina frontier communities on July 31, 1776, having ridden through enemy lines to warn them. He was both the first Jew elected in America and the first to die for it.

[Salomon] is buried in an old Jewish cemetery in Philadelphia, but his exact grave is unknown. Too bad that his grave site fell into disrepair and his grave stone apparently deteriorated.
It may take some diligence, but perhaps we can get him the kind of grave stone his life story deserves.
