But I DO feel sorry! If you Freep-mail me your name, I will put it in our prayer list, and it will be there until the day you tell me that you have given your life to Jesus.
I believe in God because that’s the way He made me, I guess one could call it self-evidence. I see no problem in believing in God and not satan. I think satan is man-made.
That is very kind and thank you but I’ll pass.
Why? You are not scared of someone praying for you, are you?
Not at all, go for it. God’ll know who I am if you pray for RMH.
He will! Just remember to let me know once you have accepted Jesus. And I’m always here, if you need to talk.
No, both Anitius Severinus Boethius and myself on this thread recommend reading "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis on this thread.
Lewis does an excellent job of starting from the viewpoint of the atheist as he used to be. As was I, before I found my foxhole.
I will put it on my list. In the meantime, I prefer to continue asking people here.
Is that how you found your foxhole, by reading Lewis?
But now, about two decades later, I feel like I squandered time after realizing I was lost.
I don't mean my time as an atheist, but the time following accepting God exists, but doing little with that belief.
Lewis put into clear text much of what I thought, but could not express it, even unto myself.
After I started my journey with God and more specifically Christ, Lewis helped me define in communicable terms what I was already following.
The Freeper community is an immense source of information, if you can ignore some insults and wade through the varying information. What I like best here is directions to good source of information. I consider Lewis one of those sources.
Re: post #141, how is it that you have described yourself as both an atheist AND as a Christian? Most of the supposed "ex-Christian" atheists I have run into are very enthusiastic about explaining how they became an atheist.
The fact that you didn't even allude to it looks rather suspicious, hence the "You're a troll" remark in #144.
Notice I didnt call you a moron for believing in a mythology, but if the shoe fits..
Leading with petitio principi. What is mythology and why do you define my beliefs as mythology? Why does such a belief make one a moron?
Cheers!
sorry, the utterances of excuses will not even be permitted, the gavel will sound and judgment will be pronounced, GUILTY, “I never knew you.” God placed the knowledge of Himself within man — therefore, “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.” If you don’t know Him, when you leave your body you will only cower in fear before the Almighty — you will be absolutely speechless when you stand before the Most High God. Within yourself, you will be pleading for mercy, but it will be too late.
He visits me every morning when I rise to meet the blessing of another day. Sometimes, He visits me in my sleep. He is with me 24/7 and on occasion His presence within is pronounced.

The Patriarch Jacob wasn't righteous? That's pretty absurd. There's a reason why he has the honor of having God's chosen people named after him.
There's no concept of a permanent place of punishment in the Hebrew Bible, or elsewhere in Jewish thought. Not only that, but the entire idea flatly contradicts the core Jewish belief of a loving, merciful, and forgiving God.
Hell may "exist" in Christian sources. But shows only their corruption from pagan influence.
Yeah, and the Christian source is Jesus of Nazareth, a Jew. He taught about hell, e.g. Mark 9:43. Hardly what I would call "pagan influence". But if you are a Jew, I realize that you do not listen to what Jesus had to say. How do you interpret Zech 12:10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced" ?
I didn't say that Jacob wasn't righteous. What I did say is that the Old Testament, or the Hebrew Bible, suggest there is a better place than sheol. Why would that be? That's why Jesus had to "lead captivity captive" Ps 68:18, and take the righteous people who were in sheol to heaven with Him.
I was just thinking that. The power of the human mind to frame its own reality is amazing. Just because his prayers where never answered does not change my universe, it only changes his.
And don't bother trying missionary crap on me. I can read Hebrew; you cannot. It doesn't say "look on me whom they pierced"; grammatically, it's more like "look towards me because of who they [the foreign invaders] stabbed."
I’m not a Christian and an atheist. I am an atheist but I respect Christianity for the most part. Religion is good for lots of people, just not for me.
How I arrived at this place is hardly your concern.
You also said “feeble-minded” as well as “troll”- not very Christian of you, now is it?
We’re done here.
I respect that. I’m certainly not going to criticize it. In fact, I wish I could say the same.

That's funny -- in the post #141 this thread, I quoted you from a couple of years ago stating "I am a Christian".
Now you say you're an atheist: and when I pointed this out, you first went after me for something THREE POSTS LATER, and claimed such outrage that you didn't want to read my arguments or give me any credence.
You *do* realize that such behaviour is commensurate with trolling, don't you?
How I arrived at this place is hardly your concern.
That's QUITE atypical -- most of the atheists, in particular those posting on Christian-friendly sites, or the more intellectuals, love to strut around about how they USED to believe, but then XYZ argument or ABC book "convinced" them: until you get to know them, or they have an unguarded moment. Most often it is a personal tragedy or immorality of some sort (not always the atheist, either; sometimes being cheated ON) to get their "I'm so MAD at God that He DOESN'T EXIST!TM" juices flowing.
As far as the feeble-minded? Most libs, as well as most atheists, lead off with it when engaging their opponents.
I thought I'd try it myself for a change: and, hey *PRESTO*!
You got all bent out of shape.
Funny how that works.
Cheers!
