Between Skype’s security vulnerability and the Microsoft buyout, Apple has more incentive than ever to promote FaceTime. I don’t think they’re much interested in creating apps for Windows, Windows Phone or Android, but FaceTime uses open standards, and they could certainly nudge along some third-party developers to widen its appeal.

Yes, but SM is right to say that the fact that the fact that Skype was able to create the bug without being blocked from execution by OS X is the primary lesson.
I make no doubt that that has been topic 1 within Apple for the past week. Surely Skype 5 was running on the iPad? Wouldn't that imply that Skype 5 had even been vetted by Apple itself?
