LeBron James says he's sorry for using the word "retarded" in a postgame news conference.
The Miami Heat star muttered the word after Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals as he and Dwyane Wade listened to a question about Wade's takedown of Boston guard Rajon Rondo.
James had his hand covering his mouth when he said "that's retarded" as a reporter asked Wade whether the play that dislocated Rondo's elbow was dirty.
After Game 4 on Monday night, James opened his postgame comments by apologizing for using "the R-word."

An elbow to the back and arm around the body when the ball is out of bounds isn’t defense, tough or otherwise.
Actually, the rules are enforced so that placing your hands on a persons back is a foul, but you can place your elbow in the small of their back to “check” them. An arm loosely draped around someones waist is maybe a foul, but no reason to leg whip said person....PUNK MOVE...you must be Heat fan. No other reason you could think that or write that.
Are you suggesting he is the only professional, black athlete who does not listen to rap?
What you do in your home is your business - as I said before, it is nice to see the politically correct speech demanded of us all come back to sock these guys in the gut.... Gay is the new Black -
Elbow near the head. Arm around the waist. The ball is behind the ref and he's shielded from seeing what Rondo is doing.
Rondo with a handful of jersey, pulling Wade to the floor (Wade is off balance), and still shielded from the ref. Wade never made leg contact with Rondo. He did wrap his right arm around Rondo as he was halfway to the ground. Rondo should have been ejected, fined, and suspended on top of the injury he brought on himself.
What a sad commentary on society and pro sports and the media today..
Cool....havn’t seen much of the Mavs yet.
