How can this be? The value of your home keeps going down, yet the property taxes never stop going up.
Back in 2006, didn’t candidate Deval Patrick promise to cut property taxes? If he does have to testify under oath at Sal DiMasi’s corruption trial next week, I hope someone asks him about that pledge, just to establish his reputation for veracity, or lack thereof.
“Governor, did you know you were lying when you vowed to cut property taxes, or maybe we all misunderstood you, and you really meant to say you were going to cut property values? Which is it?”
It’s that time of year again. Proposition 21⁄2 override season. Saturday they passed one in Scituate. Wherever you go, it’s the same old story. The selectmen say they’ve made “Draconian cuts.” They’re dealing with “fixed costs.”
Fixed costs means they can’t lay off their wife’s nephew.

The author of this article knows he lives in “Taxachusetts” where crushing tax burden is used to pay government employees making 6 figures and welfare cases, right?
This is nothing new when a currency and economy melt down. Don’t think, “It can’t happen here...”
It IS happening.
Just like in Weimar Germany, not only did the currency hyperinflate after a time, but the same thing happened with property taxes. It got so bad that landlords simply gave away the keys to their properties to the tenants and told them to keep it.
The US Government along with large numbers of state governments are quickly becoming pirate empires that regard the citenzry as sheep to be shorn or fowl to be plucked.
It is a very bad time to be a property owner and about to get worse.
Especially when one accepts that there is no real private property ownership in the USA. You just rent it from whichever taxing jurisdiction imposes property taxes.
This exposes the lie of people paying their ‘fair share’. Property taxes should be decreasing, but they are not. But why do the tax payers lay down and take this while the looters, when asked to do without any of their myriad handouts, take to the streets? That’s what is broken with the system.
Of course the governor lied. He’s a democrat for crying out loud! Democrats LIE! They are the party of liars, the party of slavery, and now they are actively reimposing slavery through taxation and you are all the slaves. You idiots in MA continue to vote these POS socialists into power and they continue to lie to you and to screw you. Can you spell STUPID because that is what you are.

Odd. The state equalized value went down on my property, and so did my property taxes. Of course, we defeated all of the millage raises that were floated on the ballot.
