Universe started off too downbeat: nothing worked, everything was a disaster. By the time they had morphed into a positive attitude they had lost their audience. The second series was/is far better than the first, but too late I fear!

“Trying to get back home” shows almost always do worse than “exploration” or “space battle” shows.

I like all well-written and acted sci-fi but I wounder why they keep trying to do these type of shows.

People like going forward not backwards.

Please advise. Is the Stargate franchise now toast?

I think you are right.. This was a bad case of them trying to copying another show.

If anyone needs a reason to watch Syfy, here it is:

Star Blazers airs Friday morning (Thurs overnight) at 2am. Two episodes.

It started a few weeks ago, so I missed the first six episodes or so.

I haven’t watched SyFy in ages and had no idea. I will try to set the DVR to capture.

This was a bad case of them trying to copying another show.

Would that other show by any chance be SyFy's own Battlestar Galactica?

When BSG first premiered, and after its first few episodes, I thought that it might well become the best SF program on TV. By the time it had ended, I was sick of the continual depressive atmosphere of the show, the moral darkness and ambiguity, and the general sense of doom (not to mention the contortions of plot and the general sense of having been narratively screwed).

The producers of Stargate Universe wanted them a "grown-up" Stargate series (meaning morally ambiguous, depressive, generally despondent--BSG-flavored, in other words)--and completely contrary to the bright, sunny, fun world of every other Stargate incarnation--which was one of the major reasons that most of us loved the series that came before SG:U.

Did not follow SG:U beyond the first season, for the same reasons that friends and fellow Stargate fans that I knew quit: it was a betrayal of everything that Stargate was about.

Cannot but be relieved at SG:U's demise--apologies to those who liked the thing.

Stargate : Perverts in Space will be back?

I can watch Dr Who indefinitely, but I managed only 3 episodes of Perverts in Space.

Okay, what's the problem with Dr Who this week?

I thought it was an above average epi. Easy-on-the-eyes Karen Gillan
trying to be Kiera Knightley. A predictably sappy ending,
complete with heightened music. A ripped off scene of some
forgotten USO themed movie, iirc.

Plenty of holes to be sure, but overall, it was a 6/10.

I would like to know what everyone else thought of the season ender of Fringe? I'm not sure what to think. My first reaction is that is didn't make any sense. If Peter never existed, then why would Walter have every gone over to the other universe?

Did Fringe just "jump the shark"?

I'd love reaction to that episode.

Their decadents turned out pretty well also.

I also like to point out something.. To me SGU was the fist scifi show that was respectful to Christianity.

Obviously a quite sharp play on words!
