Fears of low level radiation exposures are greatly over blown. There have been numerous studies of people working in the nuclear power industry. The cancer rates for nuclear workers have been shown to be far lower than in the general population despite exposure levels that have been on the average much higher.

The offsite dangers are to people who have ingested or breathed radiactive fallout. The amount of fallout from the Japanese reactors is miniscule and nothing to be concerned about. I work on a hazmat team; please believe me... there are far more dangerous problems to worry about.
