One doesn't have to put on a uniform to be a patriot and I find any such claim to be just as offensive as one who finds it necessary to broadcast to the world about all the medals they received during their alleged military service...
As a side note, following the closing of our Philadelphia stamping plant I had a conversation with my counterpart in their HR department who was a Vietnam vet also. He mentioned the fact that one of their shop employees had been a marine and told many folks that he had been awarded the Navy Cross.
Given the nature of that award I did some investigation myself and was able to obtain his personnel records which included his DD form 214. Turns out the guy was a fraud and I was also able to substantiate this fact via internet military records.
That's why I give no credence to anyone who chooses to boast about their exploits while other military heroes choose to remain anonymous.......
