Maybe John Steed would be alright in MA. A concealed sword may still be legal. Then again...

I think ol’ Steed carried a Swaine Adeney Brigg umbrella, or something similar. In 1976, I splurged on one of their “brollies” at their London shop. At the time the basic models were over US$100. However, I still have that umbrella after 35 years. When I was in London in 1991, they even made a few minor repairs for free.

Although no substitute for a firearm, the Brigg umbrella with its cherrywood shaft made a good weapon when some asshat tried to rob me in 2007.
