Dogma is dogma. There aren’t levels of “essentiality.”
I have read at least 5 separate books on Mary......a couple really old ones regarding the Rosary and at least 3 more modern books. The Assumption isn’t one of those things I just “got” right away. I understand it, would teach it to my children.....but, I don’t have the passion to debate for it.I have no problem contemplating it while reciting the rosary. This “dogma” stretches things for me. And no, I was told by a beloved old school priest that I did not have to believe every “dogma” of the church to be a member in good standing. They took me in and confirmed me. I didn’t sit and deny it either. The Assumption is not scriptural....it is revealed revelation that the church has accepted. I was, also, told I never had to recite the Rosary either. ;^P
