My skepticism goes far beyond any idea of a likeness of Jesus. It doesn’t matter to me what He looked like. It’s irrelevant and useless to dwell upon. What matters is who He was, and what he taught. Anything else is pure pablum.
As my close friend, arguably the world’s leading authority on the Shroud and a devout Christian, put it: If He left it (the Shroud), He left it for a reason.
Hard to argue with that.
