Part of this type of con is to make sure that no one else knows that you were given money. Without a trace if possible.

How do you get someone's money without them knowing it? Isn't that simple theft, and not a fraud, if you take someone's money surreptitiously, without their knowledge?

The mark convinces himself that he can convince Rossi to let him in on the ground floor. Rossi plays it cool telling him no but still surprisingly keeps picking up the phone when ever he calls.

Rossi says, you know, I like your interest, I don’t need any money right now but I would like to add you to my progress reports that I give potential future investors. In order to get them, you have to sign a Non-Disclosure agreement

Ok, you see where this is going, if you want more, you have to pay me...
