Enjoyed lunch & warmth. Then, because my feet hurt just hiking to meeting place and back, I got a weeklong transit pass. Used it to take the famous cablecar to Fisherman's Wharf and on a whim took a $15 boat tour shortly before sunset. Then had an okay dinner and took a streetcar back. The streetcars are ancient (deliberately) and VERY different from European "streettrains" (strassebahns).
Learned about Bin Ladin, and am looking at TV now.
Oh joy. Travel alerts worldwide, and a week from tomorrow I leave for Germany via Paris. I'm more frequently mistaken for a German over there these days, but I'll be lugging an equipment case that screams "American."
Maybe if I get a pair of German sandals. *\;^)
(Waiting for the cablecar I suspected the couple in front of me of being German. Not sure why, but something said they were. I became sure when I noted he was wearing a certain kind of sandals despite the cowboy hat. When they spoke, it was confirmed.)
