A flock of ten flamingoes have met a brutal end at a zoo in Eskilstuna in eastern Sweden after a curious anteater broke into their compound and clawed them to death, leaving a further five birds nursing injuries.

Perhaps he's forgotten that YHVH makes house calls, or that His BEST works are MOST often done OUTSIDE the walls of the church. Wherever He shows up is the right place place to be; even if a pillow is involved.

I like your take on things HKMk23.

Last pug I had was bigger than my 22# cat...topped out at 23#. Good watchdog, obedient, not too nervous, and S-M-A-R-T. (In case any pugs are watching...)

They are the “cat” of the Dog Kingdom. Once you have one, you will be hooked. I promise.

Yes, my son. He did the same thing last year. I was not ready for it then. This year, he had his wife make the call, but when I asked for him, he berated me. But there is a consolation: His birthday is four weeks away Thursday, and I will send him a gift and a card. In the card will be a note.

I suspect he feels it is his “duty” to “call me to repentance,” and that’s OK. But there are 50-51 other weeks in the year that he could do that.

Just sayin’.

I miss my own mother, who died when my son was 17. And I miss my dad who died when I was 17. I honor them both and always will.

I know Mrs. HKMk23 had a very good Mom’s Day, because you are such a good son, and therefore, a good spouse and dad.

Yeppers. It was raining up here on Sunday also - in southern Mass near the Cape hwys - so we will have to enjoy a happy Mudders Day a little bit later.

Golly! I totally forgot to tell my former-future Mother-In-Law how much I love her! *sheesh*

I’ll call her tomorrow and let her know I still love her, in spite of what the years have said.

How you doing. Robt?

Good morning! Sunny day here, and I’m making a supper to take to a family from the homeschool group who just had a baby. Hopefully they’ll be at home after I pick up Tom from driver’s ed.

The regional director of the driving school gave the parents a very interesting talk this morning. I hope Tom is paying attention to what he’s being taught!

I’d like to say that getting my teenagers through their first driving experiences and the necessary disappointments was an easy transition.

I’d like to say that, but it wasn’t.

One smart thing I did was to get an inexpensive second-hand car for their first car.

It needed many repairs, for many reasons. But it proved a valuable learning experience each time.

Now they are responsible for their own “wheels”, and they are very responsible indeed.

And I still have that old beater.

We have the Purple Car. Tom can his learner’s permit after his next birthday (October 31) and then someone will have to take him driving. The driving school manager gave out a book with suggestions for how to help your teen practice his skills.

My father was a flight instructor in the Navy, among his other jobs, and he said teaching 22-year-old guys to land planes on carriers in the dark was less stressful than teaching my brother and me to drive. Maybe he figured he’d die nice and fast if they went SPLAT on the flight deck.

Russel (oldest of three) was eager to get his drivers license: We got him to the DL exam office - he passed the written and “driving” test with no problems.

He wanted to drive home -> No problem, we let.

He pulled out of the DL office, turned right, drove 600 feet and stopped for a red light.

....

(Dramatic pause.)

....

Guy hit him from behind at the red light.

I took Jean and Tom out the local elienmentry school for several hour od practice driving for 4 weekends BEFORE either got on the road.

Had them back up through the whole parking lot with the boat trailer, “park” the car in every one of 50 parking slots in a row, parallel park 8 times in a row, hit the brakes in (fake) emergency stops, start and stop, cross “streets”, start and stop in the manual gears, etc. every weekend without me in the car -> so they would get used to “driving” and controlling the car in an empty lot in different weather conditions before they started on the road when they (me!) had to worry about other cars.

Isn’t that “Anteater Abuse or Neglect”? What’s his Body Mass Index? Did he take any Tylenol prior to drinking that?

That’s a good idea. We’d have to go to the high school to find a big enough parking lot, though.

Young Beau was 17 in April, but he’s not serious about getting a license. DP and I both stopped driving practice with him after he refused to stop or slow down when he was told.
