I've never heard that before.

Just wanted a day "at home" but it turned into travel prep. Had to start refilling the "travel kit," get a new prescription before the upcoming trip, pick up a set of Italian CDs from the library (before this fall's trip), get new license plate tabs for the old truck, remove the San Francisco Muni app from the phone and install new Paris apps... and I've only scratched the surface.

Spring is having a hard time starting here. Grass and dandelions are going but the azaleas and rhodies, which usually start in mid-March, are barely starting. LoM said it got pretty cold here this week.

Hello.

I was going to go to church with a friend tomorrow, but my little (?) sister has invited me to spend the day with her, her daughter, and her grandkids. How could I pass that UP???

No way!!! Best offer I’ve had all year!

Next Sunday is, of course, my birthday, so I’ve asked my friend to take me to church then. Maybe, if the gods bless me, I’ll be able to take her to “brunch.”

My daughter is (conveniently) “out of town” for both days. My son seems always conflicted because my birthday and Mother’s Day are so close...

Not my fault...blame my mom....

OldTax-lady has always preferred that we celebrate her birthday (May 4) which is HERS, dangit, and not Mother’s Day. Then we have the Captain’s birthday on June 4, and not Father’s Day.

Find a supplier for the fishtank you want, and I’ll order it for your birthday. And send you the socks I bought for a late Mother’s Day. Oh dear, that sounds rather undead, on a second look ...

YOIKS! Every six years, my daughter’s birthday is on Saturday, Mother’s Day is on Sunday, and my birthday is on Monday. It sucks. This year, her birthday ia on Friday and my BD is on Sunday. However, she has no desire to recognize either day for me. (It’s OK. God will sort it out.)

A local friend has offered to buy the tank, and the betta is only $6. But thanks for the offer. It means a lot that you would think of it!

And socks are always welcome!! LOL!

My son’s birthday is June 2, so I have a choice: Do I do the BD? Or FD? Since my payday is on the 3rd, geting him a card had to be done in May. If I give him a BD present, I have to send it in May or “OHWELL!”

He’s had the same dilemma with me...Life is strange...

If it was me, I’d say do his birthday, because he’s not your father. There’s no “Son’s Day” on the calendar ... that’s why people have birthdays!

Anoreth emailed from some unknown location within 60 miles of the coastline of some fairly civilized country. At least we know she’s still afloat. She expects to get her orders for Gunnery School at some point during this cruise, and one she has the paper in hand, she can be sure she’s going, barring a man-overboard - girl-overboard - incident.

She’s going to collect some more interesting nicknames.

More interesting than Princess Petunia, Butterfly Weapon, and German Gun? That one will probably catch on when she’s a Gunner’s Mate.

"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." (Or something like that.)

Have A GOOD time!

For my part, I will probably be saying goodbye to an old friend. We've known each other as techies via Internet since the mid/late 80s, met face-to-face late 90s (when he showed up at my church; we're of the same faith), and again last year when he was trying to relocate here. But it seems it is not working out here and he's returning to California, poor guy.

Very good, actually! I seem to be getting beyond travel anxiety (the bad part is: "Hey! This travel stuff is kinda fun!!!" but don't tell LoM *\;^).

Looking forward to being caged in an aluminium tube for half-a-day in order to arrive someplace where I don't speak the language in order to take multiple conveyances to someplace else where I barely speak that language in order to spend a day and half since I last slept... *\;^)

The good part is that once again I escape winter's continuing grasp on the Pacific Northwet. If the forecasts are correct I'll be able to warm up again next week in Germany and (one day) Paris, just like I did in San Francisco this week.

Though I admit to enjoying the sound of the cold rain outside right now.

How much of a hassle is flying now? Security wise.

Based on one flight since Osama's departure, security is hardly morea hassle than before. But I've not departed from a "major" airport.

They appear to have introduced a greater randomness factor to their security -- you might get through with the "typical" security, but for reasons not disclosed you might be selected for tighter screening.

Ask me again in 48 hours (and I'll respond a few days later, when I can *\;^). Right now on the surface it looks little different, but there's a lot I could be missing. Not worried about Monday's international flight.

Dude...this thread was a joke by the 3rd post, and side-splitting by the 40th.

Then...we moved in.

Now, the tragedy-turned-joke is undead, and remains forever.

As contrasted with the flamingos, which were only remains for a short while.
