A flock of ten flamingoes have met a brutal end at a zoo in Eskilstuna in eastern Sweden after a curious anteater broke into their compound and clawed them to death, leaving a further five birds nursing injuries.

That's exactly what I do!! And have done for the better part of 40 years.
And Tolkien was right about so MANY things!
You will be more than welcome, but you will also be experiencing a "Twilight Zone" moment or several when you see how much things have changed here.
It can be depressing. But one thing that hasn't changed is the potential, and the pent-up energy and anticipation of America, to see the roadblocks disappear, and our future path made clear.
So welcome home! But don't relax too thoroughly. We still have a lot of work to do!
Oh, I've been coming home at regular intervals. I was home on R&R last late November through mid-December. I've seen the changes.
But I live in Texas where we haven't gone quite as deep into that Twilight Zone. ;-)
It’s the End Times, DC. Armor-plated steampunk aardvarks, dogs and cats living together ...
Sure enough, they were behind the coffee pot. Tom said he’d looked there, but he didn’t see them because they were in an orange plastic bag.
The catz are annoyed with us now.
Last time I saw them they were in the junk drawer.
After seven years in the Belly of the Beast, you don't think I'm savvy enough to assess these things? ;-)
I wasn't exactly a dumbass when I arrived here back in January '04.
I'm wiser now. And I understand much more about the Middle East.
I'd wait till you lost that 22 lbs you want to lose. You don't want to end up as a photo in that "Wal Mart Shoppers" email..........LOL!
Lucky you. I'm sitting in the airport lounge, but about to head off for the gate.
Later, all.
I usually put on a dress to go to Walmart, just to set a good example.
Of course you are! We've participated in the same thread discussions and exchanged enough posts directly through those years for me to know that you know what you're doing and have a far better understanding of the situation than either I or most of the rest of the people here have.
I did not mean to offend or sound critical - my remarks were intended as more of a general editorial comment to the rest of the board about the deteriorating situation in the region you'd likely return to.
I apologize for not expressing myself better and offending you. I should have just said "if it was me, I'd at least wait till Obama is defeated in the 2012 election before making a decision".
Hope you have a safe return and best of success in settling back in at home.
I'm awake already!
Today I washed the dog, brushed the dog, washed the car dog-sheet, and vacummed and cleaned out the car interior in preparation for reinstalling said sheet.
Does WD-40 remove rust, or only prevent it?
These holding threads do make for a nice “relax and stretch’ waypoints.
But I do have to point out that the troll threads have been lacking in quality.
We may have to use a donated thread next month if teh quality is not back to standards.
Now on to the anteater wrestling match!
I’m awake already! And about to have a really late lunch here in SF, where it’s quite warm, unlike Seattle.
How y’all? We built another raised garden bed today - I will plant peas tomorrow - and then I went to a service at St. Matthew’s Church, which is as big as Western Carolina University, to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday and the beatification of Pope John Paul. Whoop! I wore my second new dress and my amber drop earrings and looked stuning, but I discovered that sitting in a just-knee-length dress (not to mention climbing baby-gates and getting into the van) is a bit of a glitch. Kneeling or standing is fine ... I will process this information and figure out suitable occasions for the dress. A museum exhibit opening would be good - standing!
“My priest” in Ethiopia emailed and said he’s far from the fighting at the Eritrean and Somalian borders, and he prays for all my friends in the US, which means all of you. Such a sweet young man. Evelyn Waugh was in Ethiopia for the coronation of Emperor Haile Selassie, and had a number of interesting (and snarky) things to say. He was like unto being the P.J. O’Rourke of his day.
Enjoy your lunch, and the warmth.
We visited a couple of grocery stores today, enjoying the growth in the economy as reflected in the bill.
Now all we need is more income.
OMG.
