I stopped watching these profane outbursts of horrible jokes and pathetic attempts at humor. I never dreamed that these “comic” roasts would be so filthy and obscene. Has-been comedians get their managers to line them up for a paycheck, and all they can come up with are vile and

Guess I got spoiled by the genuine and timeless humor of the Dean Martin roasts from 30 years ago. We told funnier jokes in my old caddy shack from years ago too.

“I never dreamed that these “comic” roasts would be so filthy and obscene.”

Ditto. I tuned into the Trump roast thinking it might offer a change-of-pace from the usual gutter-filled commentary at other Comedy Central roasts of B-list celebrities such as David Hasselhoff. I’m astonished Trump agreed to this and laughed through all the filthy humor, however tasteless. It certainly didn’t enhance my respect for the man.

Flawed as he may be as a candidate, I think Mitt Romney has too much self-respect and decency to appear on such a roast. Similarly, I have difficulty envisioning ANY of the other Republican contenders for 2012 (Mitch Daniels? Sarah Palin?) agreeing to be part of such a potty-mouthed event. And the jokes went WELL beyond mere use of George Carlin’s “seven dirty words.”
