I enjoyed Gettysburg, Braveheart, Blackhawk Down, Schindler's List, Patton, Das Boot, Battle of Britain, Lord of the Rings (which I took as the author's own experience of WWII).

There are others.

Saving Private Ryan was OK, but would have been better with a different storyline.

Saving Private Ryan was ok, but it got played into the ground.
When Trumpets Fade was a good WW2 movie. It was made by HBO but it is worth a peek.
For the German view of WW2”Cross of Iron” was a great flick.
