This year was actually a good year for movies, as Ive written repeatedly. The Kings Speech was great; so was Toy Story 3; Inception may go down as one of the most creative films of all time. The Fighter was excellent as well.
Then there were the overrated films. Black Swan was atrociously awful, another Aronofsky masterpiece of self-aggrandizing bullcrap. The Kids Are All Right was a TV movie masquerading as a prestige film because it was about lesbians. True Grit was a remake.

I have to agree. Napoleon Dynamite, Falling Down, and The Gods Must be Crazy are the 3 worst movies I’ve ever seen.
That’s my assessment of No Country for Old Men,too. Especially after the scene where the sheriff’s cousin is speechifying and we’re led to believe, OK, here’s where the sheriff does the right thing and catch the uber villain.
(But on the other hand, it would have been a longass movie.)
I saw Shawshank and thought it was a pretty good movie but just cannot fathom those who see it as full of some kind of mystical meaning. They go out of their was to make the evil warden a Christian.
The remake of “A Star Is Born,” with Barbra Streisand. God-awful.
At that moment in time Stanley Kubrick was considered a genius who could do no wrong. So the critics raved about it. It did have a few decent moments, but I'll bet most people who saw it walked out thinking they just saw an overrated, boring movie. Like me.
Stephen King’s stuff always equates Christianity and small towns with depravity.
“True Grit was fantastic even thought it was a remake.”I agree and the author is an idiot.
Moulin Rouge? LOL! Ewan McGregor would like to forget that one. Good actor. He even said later that the Star Wars that he was in sucked.
Actually it got mixed reviews upon release and built up its reputation over the years. It’s a wonderful film if you’re on its wavelength.
“The Stand” did all right by Christianity.
Right away I’m disagreeing with you. Inception was unwatchable and Toy Story3 was sad and draggy.
I have some nominations for overrated movies.
American Beauty
Shakespeare in Love
No wonder there are so many younger generation Obama voters.
Fair enough.
“Ive always noticed that libs like Celine are always free with OPM (other peoples money). But, when it comes to THEIR money, they are the biggest tightwads on the planet.”
Hence my tagline.
Hey, dont say anything mean about Cera or he might have a slight reaction and say something nervously.
I will say Javier Bardem is fantastic in the flick. His scene at the gas station where he flips the coin is one of the best movie scenes ever.
How about a list of overrated actors.
1) Kevin Costner
“True Grit was fantastic even thought it was a remake.”
Heard that from several people. I’ll have to give it a try.
