I used my debit card at a small pet store and was waiting to enter my pin number when the cashier asked to see my I.D. I told him he didn't need to see it for a debit purchase.

He kept insisting so I again refused adding I had no problem showing my I.D. had I been using my credit card. He told he was new and this was how his boss had trained him. I told him to bring his boss over. Odd, the boss wasn't in the store. I was calm the whole time but the kid was getting sarcastic. After completing my transaction, sans I.D., and leaving the store, the kid started saying goodbye loudly and, waving childishly, mockingly yelled, "Have a nice day."

He no longer works there...

He doesn't need it for ANY purchase. The agreements merchants have with VISA and MASTERCARD specifically prohibit asking for ID when using a credit card.
