In the early 19th century, British diplomat Lord Elgin tore down a large number of the remaining friezes from the Parthenon and shipped them to Britain. With diplomats like that who needs agitators? lol

The Elgin Marbles, sculptures from the frieze of the Parthenon dating back to 5th century BC, were purchased in 1816 for 35,000 Pounds Sterling. They have been a source of controversy for many years - recently attempts have been made to reunite the pieces in possession of the Britsh Museum with those in Athens to be the centerpiece of The New Acropolis Museum.

nice news. I had been sad knowing that the ancient guys had lost their marbles.
