I don’t think so.

If anything, he’ll come out for Romney. And he’ll do it before the end of the year.

Beck’s sponsors have been the target of multiple targeted boycott campaigns by Progressives such as Van Jones and Media [doesn’t]Matters. The constant pressure on his sponsors might be forcing them to take their advertising dollars elsewhere.

I couldn’t agree more.

Part of the reason I lurked for so long and didn’t post...threads just like this one. The conservative hating media floats a story and people calling themselves conservatives then try to distance themselves from the target of the media campaign.

Calm down, everyone and please, stop giving the liberals a reason to rubberneck.

you don't like him just because of ‘birthers’????

Read his books, listen to his other views...there is more to him than ONE topic.

give him a try...he'll grow on you...My husband is not political but he tunes into Beck daily...

This is probably about money; Beck signed with Fox after limited TV experience (and modest success) at Headline News. Translation: his TV contract isn’t close to what Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and the other prime time stars at FNC are making. Glenn is probably asking for a much bigger contract and a prime-time slot as part of any “re-up.”

With FNC contributing more than $700 million a year to the NewsCorp bottom line, Roger Ailes will have no problem padding Glenn’s bank account. But he isn’t prepared to give Beck the 7, 9, or 10 pm eastern slots. Meanwhile, I’m guessing that CNN has made a run at Beck, offering him the 8 pm timeslot. Parker-Spitzer (or whatever it’s called) has bombed and they see Beck as one of the few hosts who could put a dent in O’Reilly’s ratings.

And forget all that “journalism” stuff that CNN tries to use in justify in rock-bottom ratings. They’d be happy to pay whatever Glenn wants and build their prime-time line-up around him. Pretty heady stuff. Out of loyalty, Beck is giving FNC a chance to make him a counter-offer, but if he doesn’t get the big raise and a new time slot, he will movfe. Rest assured, Beck wouldn’t be talking about leaving unless he had other offers on the table.

Another possibility is some sort of first-run syndication show. With Oprah departing, everyone on TV is filming some sort of pilot for the late afternoon time slot. Personally, I don’t think Glenn would do well at 3 pm. He might also be contemplating a syndicated show for late night, opposite “Nightline.” Rush did well with his show back in the early 90s, achieving solid ratings on a rag-tag line-up of stations.

As with the afternoons, I think Beck would face an uphill battle in late nights. But if he goes the syndicated route, he splits the revenue with his partner, which means that Glenn makes millions, even if the show isn’t a rousing success.

I haven’t read the NYT article (obviously), but I’m betting this situation can be summed up in three words: timeslot, money and control.

I like Beck and think he does an excellent job of teaching on his program. Unfortunately, and speaking only for myself, I find his program to be like a very sweet liqueur; I can only take it in small doses because it’s so intense. It’s easy to get so upset watching his show, and at times, feel so overwhelmed by all the people working to destroy our nation every day, that I simply have to turn it off. Could be one reason his ratings are not as strong as last year, if in fact that’s the case; people may just be overloaded. Now we have to deal with a presidential election!

I don’t understand, why so much hatred for Mr. Beck, et. al. This is exactly what our lovely CinC wants to turn against liberty and support the tear down of America. That’s why President Obama will probably win re-election.

Well, that's one way to look at it. Another could be that he genuinely is concerned for his family's well-being, because it takes just one leftist nutjob to ruin their life, and the MSM will treat that nutjob as either a hero or someone inspired by the “hateful” right wing.

Huntsman, Jr. isn’t going anywhere after he walked into the crowd last week and practically tried to cause an uprising.

That’s because there is no possibility this will turn out well in the long term. Democracy in the muslim world means having the right to vote for the next anti-west dictator.

You hit the nail on the head...Beck idolizes Orson Welles and his “Mercury Theater of the Air.” Glenn can only hope he doesn’t end up like Orson, whose career peaked with “Citizen Kane.” Less than 20 years after that success, he couldn’t find work in Hollywood and he was better known to later generations as the pitchman in TV wine commercials.

Jones left “Color” before the boycott was initiated. Hs Beck ever shown any evidence that proves Jones was still pulling the strings?

I suspect a lot of the Republican establishment and maybe some movement conservatives are concerned that Beck has become a little weird and don’t want to be associated with him as much.

I've got to say, Mark Levin suspected this well before anyone else caught on. And I don't think Rush has ever given Beck more than a passing mention. You could say, "well, they are competitors!" but plenty of radio hosts are friends too.

Really, I think they worry about Beck becoming the face of the movement - too many skeletons as well as screws loose (the video of him crying in the hospital, for one).

His TV show isn’t intended to be fun. It’s intended to wake you the hell up. I agree, his radio show was more fun a few years ago, but what wasn’t.
