Several aspects of the box make it look “repurposed.” The tin liner, the damaged bezel around the round “window” in the top. Those round areas on each corner likely held some sort of decoration, glasss, semiprecious stone, medallion. Restore those, plus a likely magnifying glass in the top, and it’s sort of fancy, almost like a handheld Victorian curio. The handles throw me though.

It’d be useful to know the dimensions of it. The items surrounding it don’t necessarily help. I suspect it’s smaller than we think.
