I don’t care if they’re using vintage Stratocasters, it will never be Rock. Never. It’s not the medium, it’s the message.

Personally, I love old-time Gospel, but Christian “rock” is just ridiculous.

And therein lies your problem. You cannot see past your own bias. You are probably one of those people who, back in the 16th century, would have been screaming "Bring back the chanting monks." You are probably one of those who would have taken an axe to the organ.

It is OK to have a "like." I actually like gospel as well. One of my radio presets is 90.5, which is a southern gospel station here in Houston (KJIC). I don't listen to a lot of Christian music, at least not music that is current. If I am listening to the radio in the car, I am mostly listening to my podcasts of Ravi Zacharias or J Vernon McGee...or listening to 105.7 KHCB. I listen to a lot of scripture as well.

But...my job in the kingdom is that of helping churches reach their communities...and the number one reason I find that churches fail is their tradition (their bias). They prefer their comfort over their community. They would rather be comfortable on Sunday morning...even if it means people go to hell. THEY come first...not the lost within their community. I see it everywhere. That is not what Jesus intended for His people.

And no...its not about being seeker sensative. The seeker sensative movement is garbage. Its about Form over Function. There are 6 functions a church must perform in order to be a New Testament church. The form can change and God gives us that flexability.
