He doesn’t “know nothing about” him. He actually has key information about him: that he is willing to go on national television to point out that he considers his hobby more important than his family. That’s a keypiece of knowledge.
Knowledge? I didn't hear him say it was more important than his family. That sounds like projecting, not knowledge. But if some knowledge is what you are interested in, here is some. The guy owned a travel agency in Milwaukee and leading tour groups was part of his job.
Who's wedding did he miss? Some niece or nephew who didn't give a damn if he was there as long as they still got a check? Who's birth? A great grandchild who he'll get to see a day or two later?
Now a bunch of people jump on a guy who just passed who for all they know might have been a wonderful person. But because he did something that they think is "stupid" he somehow morphs into 'jerk.'
So much for 'speaking well of the dead.'
