Protectionists want tariffs, which are taxes that increase costs to consumers. They also advocate for quotas thinking government will offer this protection to industries needing it rather than making those decisions based on political expediency. Imagine the union influence on government protection. This will all give government more power and more money. As a conservative, I believe government has too much power already and takes far too much of my money.
Protectionists are eager to be generous with what's in my wallet. I have a problem with that and so should you.
