For the heck of it, Lionel Hampton was no slouch on the drums.
Ringo was a bit limited in his tools but even Buddy Rich himself noted the 'appropriateness' of his drum tracks. Shocked the hell out of me when I heard it because, to me, Buddy Rich is at the very top. (Shame he never got his wish to play with Hendrix.)
They were supposed to form Beck, Bogert, Appice, and (Rod) Stewart in 1970, but Beck got in a car accident and Bogert and Appice teamed with Jim McCarty-—a terrific guitar player but not Beck-—and Rusty Day, a horrible “singer” to form Cactus. Although Cactus had a great niche as a boogie band, the absence of vocals condemned them to never having a hit. When they broke up around 1975, Bogert and Appice joined with Beck in their one album (which never jelled).

He doesn't even play drums in Foo Fighters, last time I saw him play drums was with The Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures.
Of course Prairie Prince of The Tubes, who played drums on Skylarking is no slouch.
Right, I always get the two confused. Nevertheless, a great drummer. Saw them live at the greek theater many years ago and did a great job on I’m a Man. There was a second drummer that night but didn’t know who it was.
I’m wondering if his name is John French, not if he is French.

I agree with the first three. Next to Jimmy Page - Bonzo made those Zeppelin songs, just listening to the drums on them is so intense.

It has a meduim slow tempo but nice power.

One thing I like about Chicago, was that their live sound was just as clean as the recording studio.
