At the end of a long day, I kissed my children goodnight. When I turned to go, I was overcome by how much I love them. Almost immediately, I felt God speak to my heart, "Then why don't you believe that I love you, my daughter?"
I realized that God loves me unconditionally, as I love my children. When my children do something wrong, I do not stop loving them. I discipline them; I guide them back to the right path; and when they are sorry, I forgive them. God is a merciful parent, loving me even as I sin. Though upset by some of my actions, God guides me in love. When I repent, God rejoices and forgives me.
I still suffer from depression, but I know now that I have a Father who cares for me, walking with me through my dark times and loving me in spite of myself.
