Sorry, been there, tried that, so have other Yankees I know. Didn’t work out.
There’s an ad....Texas, it’s a whole other country.....well it is.

It really depends on the individual. Someone who comes down and starts ragging on people for their drawl probably isn’t going to make a lot of friends.

Also, a lot of non-natives can’t grasp Texas pride.

With that said, let me add that my Dad came here from NYC a little under 50 years ago. My husband has been here for 22 years. Neither of them are Texans by birth but you’d never know it. And they wouldn’t leave for all the tea in China. :D
