Also, if a front loader is placed on an ‘unstable floor’ (read NOT a concrete slab) then you may have quite a shimmy in nearby rooms.
We have a Whirlpool Cabrio set which is top loading, but is energy efficient and uses the HD detergent.
Works great.
BTW - you really need to use HD detergent.
My $.02.
Good luck!
We also have the top loading Cabrio washer and front loading dryer. These are the best machines we’ve ever owned (40+ years). Another advantage of a top loader is that they never develop that sour smell that plagues many front loading machines.
We have a front loader in a clost in out master bath, 2nd floor, so no concrete. We only notice a shimmy in the guest bath which is on the other side of the wall, other wise not. It uses less water and is easier on clothes.

We have a Whirlpool Front loaders are inherently dynamically unstable. Typically they add a 100 pound slab of concrete to diminish the shaking issue. Not so, at least not for years. It's been 15 years since they used weights in washers and the weight problem was only with the old Frigidaire combo (very heavy) front loader, not made since the 70's. The only washer I know of that used concrete blocks was the GE top loaders made up until about 15 years ago. Excessive vibration because of bad floors happens in top loaders as well as front loaders. I do recall not being able to sell that old Frig combo to customers living in moble homes, that was one heavy washer/dryer. Not the case with new front loaders.
Good luck with the Cabrio, it and the similar Kenmore model has experienced a higher than average repair ratio.
