Great stuff. In spite of Opie’s ham-handed treatment of Grumman, “Apollo 13” remains one of my favorite movies. For those of us astro-junkies from that time, I highly recommend Gene Kranz’s book “Failure Is Not an Option” which recounts the early days of NASA from the pre-Mercury days through the Apollo missions.

You might also want to read Borman’s account of the Apollo 13 mission. I believe the book is called “Lost Moon”, and can be found on Amazon.com

I have read “Lost Moon”, but not the Kranz book. I’ll have to put it on my list. Gene Kranz is one amazing individual.

And for balls out heroism and courage, both in the LEM cockpit and with Kranz’ crew on the ground in Houston, this magnificent, historical recording, is always compelling, culminating in the absolutely undeniable United States’ triumph at 31:45.
