Aloha Sweetness!
*LITTLE DEVIL HUG*
*batting green eyes innocently*
Why, whatever do you mean?
*evil grin*
I want to chat with him about THIS:
.WIND CHILL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST MONDAY...
A WIND CHILL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST MONDAY.
* TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO DROP TO 10 TO 20 BELOW TONIGHT...
AND THIS COMBINED WITH JUST LIGHT WINDS...WILL ALLOW WIND
CHILL READINGS TO DROP TO 25 TO 30 BELOW ZERO IN SOME
LOCATIONS.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A WIND CHILL WARNING MEANS THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND
STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS
WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR DEATH IF
PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

I hope you are keeping warm!
Tomorrow will be really cold, but Tuesday is supposed to be warmer.
That’s because we have ANOTHER storm moving in..

Its snowed 19 of 23 days here in January in WI. Its one of the coldest months I can remember though not in absolute terms, since its just been consistently cold rather than hitting record lows. That's how it's been here in Central Ohio. Had a very cold December except for New Year's Eve when it was 68. Since then, it hasn't been above freezing and it has snowed at least 16 or 18 days.

Usually you would see a block heater cord coming from underneath. That’s what they do in Maine, plug ‘em in for the night.

I hope people will remember to throw out some food in the morning for the critters.

I just hope people bring their pets inside. The barn doesn’t cut it on a night like this.

We have hurricanes down here, but I don't think I could make it very long up north. Week, after week, after week of nothing but unrelenting cold......no way ;^)

When I talked to my brother in Michigan today, all he talked about was the cold. He's a short distance from the lake, which he went out to yesterday to see the icebergs along the shore. Said the lake was freezing up but not that far out yet; related a historical freezing over of the lake when one could walk across it to Chicago.
But on the bright side, it's great for ice fishing.

Ice fishing, skiing and stuff like that keep people form losing their minds in the winter!
We have been through temps like this before, it’s really nothing new.
I just want Albore to take his global warming and ______ it!

When I was at the UH, the climate rage was about the 'Coming Ice Age'.....which never happened, although many took rather drastic precautions to protect themselves against the possibility. Had I not been basking in the warm Hawaiian sun and truly gotten the sense and scope of the non existent calamity, I could have invested a few bucks, profiting off fear.
Global Warming is all in algore's head and I doubt it would fit......but ya never know...

I’ll grant you a tie. But those country roads are basically tunnels of color. Esp on a good ride (not a cage), they’re amazing...

You get used to it. It helps if you ski or like hockey. And a snowmobile is as fun as an ATV. You just have to dress in layers.
I think the part I hate the most is not being able to air out the house for months at a time. We all look forward to opening the windows for the first time, usually in late March.

This Wikipedia page seems to be fairly up to date on high and low temperature records for States.
US State Temperature Extremes
New York -57°F/-49°C February 18, 1979 Old Forge
Vermont -50°F/-46°C December 30, 1933 Bloomfield
New Hampshire -47°F/-44°C January 29, 1934 Mount Washington
Maine -50°F/-46°C January 16, 2009 Big Black River
Right now here are lowest temps on weatherunderground
New York - Saranac Lake -31 °F
Vermont - Saint Johnsbury -17.2 °F
New Hampshire - Mount Washington -33 °F
Maine - Frenchville -14.0 °F
So it looks like Mt. Washington New Hamsphire is just 14 °F from the State record. And Saranac Lake New York is just 26 °F from the state record. Mt. Washington could make a run. Got 4 hours to go.

Another state that is in the ball park for a record.
Massachusetts -35°F/-37°C January 12, 1981 Chester
Current lowest temperature on weather underground
Massachusetts - New Salem -13 °F
Just 22 °F from a record State low.

That was when I was stationed at Malmstrom, AFB ('77 - '79). I believe (I am relying on 30 plus year memory so I may be off by a few degrees) they shut down the flight line (runways) when the temperature got around -70 with wind chill. I have read that jet fuel freezes at -40.
At that -38 temperature, my 1967 Dodge Pickup still started without having an engine block heater on it. When we bought the truck in California it had Alaskan plates on it. My gas mileage ranged from 7.5 - 11.1 mpg.
