My dad was a prison guard for 30+ years.

Bad idea for them to have listed numbers.

I guess I just picked up the habit.

[and I rather like being “invisible”]...:))

I reckon have an odd sense of “artistic appreciation”.....;]

Back here in my little “holler”, ‘Homeland Security’ is quite an old [almost medieval] concept.

Truth be told, in 49 years of inhabiting this area, I don’t know anyone personally who ever got robbed.

A couple of flatlanders tried a pretty good scam a couple years back, though.

They’d go door to door and knock and if somebody was home, they’d ask if somebody with a *really* weird/not likely name was home.
The person would, of course, say nobody there by that name lived there.

If nobody answered, they robbed the place.
They managed to do this for 2 days until some mountaineer simply *didn’t* answer the door when they knocked so they broke in...only to find him sitting in a dark corner with a 12 gauge.

Game over.

Funny thing was, all of us later discovered we’d collectively adapted the same “mind set” and ~nobody~ was answering their doors.

We were all listening for the knocks with our firearms by our side.

The 2 city kids were “lucky”.
The old man just held them at gunpoint until the sheriff came.

Life is...”unusual” here...:)

“will make its users’ addresses and mobile phone numbers available to all Facebook developers.”

Only if you gave it to them.

I’m on FB. My name, but no other personal information.
I got hooked on Mafia Wars and have over 2000 ‘friends’.

Over the last 2 years, FB has been invaluable for sharing
information on a national and global basis. My Mafia players come from all over, and for the most part are Conservative or right-of-center Americans.

Recently, I took part in getting the word out about counter-protests of the Westboro scum at Christina’s funeral.

Several of my ‘friends’ are true Patriots and we share as much info back and forth as we can.

It’s not perfect, Facebook, but like anything, it’s a tool that can be used for good or evil. I’ve found it quirky and annoying at times, but overall FB has changed the mechanics of politics and has enriched our culture. I don’t think that young man knew what he had wrought.

Anyone can join with a fake name and info and you can still get the benefits of all the info sharing. I’ve found it invaluable for sharing with Conservatives I would otherwise have never met in my entire life.

Plus, Mafia Wars has been fun.

You should have received confirmation on your e-mail - you have to input your e-mail when requesting to be removed. If not, try again - there should be a place to put your email and password. That’s about all I know.

I went to help menu and found it. It’s deactivated now with a request for permanent deletion, which is supposed to occur in 14 days.

Anyone who puts their address and phone number on FB is an idiot.

How about those of us that put your address and phone number on FB?

Although users will still have to allow applications to access their address and phone numbers, AllFacebook reports that many users may not notice the new change.

This story is nonsense. First of all, who would give Facebook an address and phone number??? Secondly, I checked every security option available, and no one can see any comments of mine unless I specifically agree to it.

“I’ve got your phone number and address. I call your phone number. No answer. Pretty good chance your home is empty. If I was unscrupulous, what could I do with that info?”

No, that’s not how it works. Your problem happens when you wifi in from Jamaica with pics of yourself on the beach. Then everyone not only knows you aren’t home, they know you won’t BE home for some time.
