A Turning Point in the Discourse, but in Which Direction?

WASHINGTON — Within minutes of the first reports Saturday that Representative Gabrielle Giffords, an Arizona Democrat, and a score of people with her had been shot in Tucson, pages began disappearing from the Web. One was Sarah Palin’s infamous “cross hairs” map from last year, which showed a series of contested Congressional districts, including Ms. Giffords’s, with gun targets trained on them.

Another was from Daily Kos, the liberal blog, where one of the congresswoman’s apparently liberal constituents declared her “dead to me” after Ms. Giffords voted against Nancy Pelosi in House leadership elections last week.

Odds are pretty good that neither of these — nor any other isolated bit of imagery — had much to do with the shooting in Tucson. But scrubbing them from the Internet couldn’t erase all evidence of the rhetorical recklessness that permeates our political moment. The question is whether Saturday’s shooting marks the logical end point of such a moment — or rather the beginning of a terrifying new one.

Hey Americans?

They are gona ram it thru you throats untill you push it back seriously.

You show restraint or weakness in answering to this deliberate attack and you are history.

PS: Republicans at Congress are already on retreat!

My question is, how do crosshairs on a map become crosshairs on Congresswoman Giffords? Do people honestly think this guy read Sarah Palin’s website?

The shooter was a drug infested, flag burning, God hater. He didn’t listen to Beck, Limbaugh or Palin.

There are even sites that claim that Free Republic was down most of the day scrubbing postings by the shooter, some sites just said scrubbing postings that advocated violence against the member of Congress.

You cannot reason with sick puppies like those or the MSM employees who use those sites as sources

I have not checked the smatterings at media smatters.

Better to watch them flail and flounder. News reporters are just a pack of lost little commies. They have to demonize something. This week it is uncommunist speech.

And when a surveyor's location point symbol becomes a crosshair?

That could be a useful idiot that was sacrificed to allow the MSM to throw a negative spin on the constitutionalism movement and the tea parties

NY Times and all cable news outlets have neglected to mention that Gabrielle Giffords is a close friend of Michele Bachmann, I wonder why that is????

Just how well do all the quoted leftist libbies actually know Gabrielle Giffords?

How come there is only one person in politics, of whom I've read, who is in literal, real tears, and who speaks of an actual friendship with Giffords????

http://m.startribune.com/topic/1554-Local%20+%20Metro%20News/articles/203810275

...Rep. Michele Bachmann says her "tears are flowing" at the news. She says she had the privilege of knowing Giffords as a friend, and she calls her colleague someone who governed with integrity and wisdom.

And her own parents are accusing the Tea Party???

Geeesh....

Would it be a stretch to speculate that the Hard Left is manufacturing “evidence” that the shooter posted on conservative sites?

Say, is there a pictorial dictionary somewhere on line which would show what a surveyor's location symbol looks like, and compare & contrast it to a "crosshairs" logo?

THANKS.

Interestingly, the free republic website was apparently subjected to a “scraping operation” over the two day period preceding the shooting. The impact on the site was so dramatic that a thread was put up to discuss what might be wrong with the website.

I read that on another forum site... however they conveniently neglected to mention that the Congressman quoted was Rep. Bachmann - only that it "wasn't Boehner for once."

More little reminders that liberalism is a mental disorder.

Generic extremist commits violence against “moderate”. Stewbert couldn’t ask for a better talking point for their Rally for Sanity movement.

OMG, that was a cute remark, that it wasn't Boehner's tears -- but they should have mentioned who's tears they were.

I take it that Gabby's own parents are clueless that their daughter is friends with the founder of the D.C. Tea Party Caucus????

The press in this country is not merely worthless, the press has metamorphosed into an instrument of evil.
