>>Saying that the government does not have the luxury of funding non-essential services,” Colorado Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn has asked the Government Accounting Office (GAO) to open up the books for both the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and National Public Radio. Lamborn is no stranger to NPR. He has previously sponsored bills in the House of Representatives to stop Federal funding for NPR and the CPB, both of which were defeated by Democratic majority last month. However, the Colorado Springs Gazette says Lamborn may re-introduce another de-funding bill in January, when Republicans take the majority in the House. NPR received $65 million from the government in 2010, a small fraction of their overall budget which is majority funded by private donations and underwriting. The GOP placed the removal of government funding for NPR & CPB high on their priority list, after commentator Juan Williams was fired for his anti-Arab comments.

Not just NPR either. Planned Parenthood and every other leftist organization is getting government funds. I hear even Soros’ Open Society Institute gets federal funds for “voter education” in foreign countries.
There are literally hundreds and hundreds of leftist groups getting grants in this country. $700,000 for a propaganda play about global warming.... geesh
Allll freakin’ right. This is so good to hear. Keep it up - go after ‘non-essential’ budget items. I have to to get by and I’ll bet anyone else reading this post has to watch over how they spend their money. Government needs to do the same. DEFUND THE LEFT!
yeeeeeeeesssssss!!!
dont give them another penny.
When liberals are FORCED to pay for Rush Limbaugh’s show, I’ll be happy to pay for NPR.
Excellent! Once the books are opened, let’s move to recover the taxpayers’ fair share of revenue from the Children’s Television Workshop, a multi-billion dollar company that produces “Sesame Street” and ancillary toys, games, etc.
We funded it, we should get a share of the profits.
As far as I'm concerned the argument ends right there. "Fine, then they won't miss the money."
Starve them out.
“...DEFUND THE LEFT...”
That phrase should be on buttons, bumper stickers, tee shirts, etc. That is our mantra. That is our mission.
NPR and PBS should be cut loose, nut just cut. The reason they were getting fed money (our tax dollars for anybody who isn’t paying attention) originally was because there were only 3 networks. Now we have many choices and there is absolutely NO need for federally subsidized propaganda such as NPR and PBS. Set them free. If they survive, then they were meant to be commercial enterprises, otherwise they should be allowed to fail just like any other business with lots of competition.
