Being in former unit command at the squadron level in the US Air Force, I was involved the Court-Martial and discharge of several homosexuals. They disrupted unit cohesion. Several were in supervisory roles and were harassing their subordinates. In all cases, their victims were young airmen and it took a few who had the courage to ID the perp. And before you get on your self-righteous high horse, I also was involved in the Court-Martial of officers who were found guilty of adultery, which was punishable under the Uniformed Code of Military Justice.
I have experienced it firsthand while I was a young Airman in the AF..
When I was an E3, there was a BuckSgt (E4) in the same squad but not in direct command of me that came to me one night in the NCO club (we had no Airman’s club @ Homestead AFB)... put his arm around me.. then whispered in my ear, “A friend told me that you are gay, you want to go back to the dorms?” ... I shoved him back and punched him.
I still have the scar between my knuckles from knocking his tooth out. I did NOT get Court-Martialed for strinking an NCO BECAUSE there wasn’t DADT yet.. and IF he reported me, he would have been in MUCH more trouble than me.. he would have been DISCHARGED, and I probably would have gotten an Article 15.
I have NO idea where he heard that I was a fag, or even if it was true that someone told him at all... He could have been testing the waters on a new(er) recruit for all I know. I do not walk, talk, posture, sway or act like a queer, and I never have.
Anyway, will it effect military and it’s service members? YES IT WILL, and NOT in anything CLOSE to positive.
Anyone that spews that crap is blowing blowBama out their mouth...
Bikk
No high horse here. What you are saying is that people will fraternize or harass counter to regulations regardless of gender preference.
