I’m optimistic that we will not go down like those other civilizations. Instead it will go down in the next few years when the electrical grid goes down permanently (EMP, super solar flare like in 1921, computer virus like Israel used on Iran’s nuclear plants, read “How Long Can You Tread Water”.

All modern civilizations are totally dependent on electricity. A sudden loss of electricity for a week and the country would be in anarchy.

Oh, and happy new year.

Thanks, same to you.

One would also think that this cycle also completes itself within a civilization that retains it’s basic nationality or title. Great Britain is one of those, as well as the Roman Empire.

Cut electricity and country boys like me will survive and take over! (You know how the song goes.)

“All modern civilizations are totally dependent on electricity. A sudden loss of electricity for a week and the country would be in anarchy.”

Which explains why the libs were considering having Google maintain the grid.

The electrical grid will not go down permanently. But it might go down long enough to drive the big cities insane. Nothing goes down permanently, it can always be fixed. And in the rural and smaller cities, there will be enough real workers to get it back up and running. But the bigger cities will have to fight through the looters and anarchists and rioters to even get to where they need to be. It will not be pretty, but it will be an eye opener.

Just like the LA riots were an eye opener for the Asian communities. I wonder how many Asian business owners are now solid gun owners, with a gas generator on the side.

Generating one's own electricity for a few hours a day is not that tough, given that you have fuel to run a generator/car/tractor with an alternator/generator.

Owning a couple of inverters including a fairly sizable sign wave inverter can get one through for a few months (until the fuel runs out).
