Why aren't you doing something to stop DADT from being repealed?
Mike I supported (donations) and voted for you in the primary of 2008. Sarah I vigorously supported McCain for president because you were his VP candidate.
Purportedly, both of you are considering running for POTUS in 2012. I could support either of you because I think we share common moral values. However, I'm starting to question that potential support because of your silence or little said against repealing DADT.
I cannot, as a Christian Evangelical, support either of you in 2012 IF today you do not use your public forums to speak out strongly against the potential repeal this Saturday of DADT by the lame duck congress.
Sir and Ma'am, it is time to show your real values. Taking a strong stand on stopping this nonsense today is called for by those that would ask for Evangelical Christian support. Of course, I can only speak for myself. However, I'm certain there are others just like me. Please don't allow the military to be homosexualized further than it is. Your silence is in fact helping to bring that about. I pray you will act in a proactive way and make it clear to the press and everyone that you oppose what is about to occur, and under your leadership it would not be allowed. Open homosexuality and military service are incompatible, and a moral people don't allow it to occur.
And they would do what? Vote against it?
Um, last I checked, neither had a vote!
At a minimum, they should be making concerted public efforts to get Congress to vote against it. The silence is deafening.
Speak out strongly against repealing DADT on Facebook, etc. They have not done so...they have evaded it.
They express opinions about everything else, why not this?
Palin came out against DADT in a Fox News interview. There are a lot of issues going on, and for a non-elected official, there isn’t much more she can do.
“At a minimum, they should be making concerted public efforts to get Congress to vote against it. The silence is deafening.”
Amen and thank you. I thought my point was clear.
What is being asked is that they make a public statement about their position on the subject given that a historic vote on it will take place very soon. I think it’s a perfectly legitimate question for all of the so-called front-runners: Palin, Huck, Romney, Gingrich, Ryan, Barber, etc.
They should all be put on record NOW....since it’s an issue now.
Moreover, I’d like to have them answer the question: Will you actively work against repeal of DADT during the remainder of this lame-duck Congress and HOW will you work against it.
I’m tired of the BS from these politicians.
Are you sure? Do you twitter?
“Palin came out against DADT in a Fox News interview.”
When and how strongly? Oh there is MUCH MORE both of them could do. This should be a priority issue with them.
They both have large public followings on twitter, facebook, etc. They can do more.
“Im tired of the BS from these politicians.”
Amen to that Chaplain!
And what are you doing about DADT?
I would argue that the Brian Aitken case is biger.
If he can be jailed for legally transporting a gun, anyone here can be jailed for anything.
“Are you sure? Do you twitter?”
No, but I have them both on facebook.
Well I'm sure they appreciate the advice from some anonymous person on the Internet. If the media showed DADT was a priority for them, someone would be yelling that START should be a priority. If START was a priority, someone would be yelling that the tax cuts should be a priority. If tax cuts were their priority, someone would be yelling repealing Obamacare should be their priority. If repealing Obamacare were their priority, someone would be yelling that stopping the dream act should be their priority.. and so on and so on and so on...
As my dad used to say when I asked someone to do something for me.. "What are you, a Democrat? Do it yourself."
This is an urgent issue, and I agree with rbpa that the gun issue is big.
It makes sense to have these folks on record. And to say “they’re not in office” is to pretend that they don’t have enormous influence.
Not even ONE venue has addressed the case against repeal. Not Fox and certainly not any of the alphabets, and I’ve not even heard it on the radio.
There is a rationale behind objections to repeal, and that rationale is being silenced.
A Palin or Huckabee has the microphone that could explain that rationale to the nation.
“And what are you doing about DADT?”
Well duh, I’m lobbying elected officials and potential POTUS candidates? And speaking out in every venue that I legally can.
I’m still serving in the reserve....this is VERY personnal to me.
