Well deserved for Alice Cooper. Neil Diamond also.

Absolutely. Frankly I'm shocked neither one hadn't already been in the HoF.

Bonnie Raitt?? The Ramones?? The Talking Heads?? Elvis Costello?? The O'Jays?? The Sex Pistols?? Run-DMC?? The Stooges?? Abba??

Oy.

I think the fact that Vanilla Fudge isn’t in there is a crime.

Are you serious about dissin' Neil Diamond?

The line between Pop music and Rock music can be a bit fuzzy, but Neil Diamond is not on the Rock side of that line. Does he have 'influence'? I guess... but there are a lot of acts that I'd personally put in before him.

I think that suit was made from some furniture my mom had back in the early 70s. :)

“Downtown Train” - but Rod Steward had more commercial success with it (earning songwriter royalties for Waits).

It’s a far sight better than anything Lou Reed ever vomited from his cranial recesses.

And it’s criminal that Frank Bennett isn’t in it.

Thanks for posting some of Diamond's resume.

The guy was an all-around music machine and major force.

What annoys me about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is its overrated criteria and points given for "edginess" and avant garde crap.

Even John Cougar-Mellencamp (ROCK in the USA) and Paul Simon (Me & Julio Down By The School Yard) copied Diamond's signature riffs.

Can you think of any Tom Waits songs? Just one?

"Nighthawks At The Diner"
"16 Shots From A 30-06"
"Step Right Up"

Evidently, you missed the memo...

The “Most Overrated Musical Act in the History of Musical Acts” has been renamed the “Order of Bruce Springsteen with U2 Clusters.”

For their psychedelic version of "You Keep Me Hanging On"??

By that same token, where is the Strawberry Alarm Clock's induction?

Totally agree on Alice. Not a big Neil Diamond fan, but what the heck, he should be in there too.

I heard that was under discussion. They've made a fine choice.

Those Rush costumes in the 70's were unforgivable.

Aww, come on! Classy stuff. :) I wouldn't really call them Rush Costumes (although they did wear them), there were plenty of other bands looking like that back then.

The line between Pop music and Rock music can be a bit fuzzy...

That's a good point. But wasn't most music in the 60s "pop"? How is "Rock" defined? (rhetorically speaking)

...but Neil Diamond is not on the Rock side of that line. Does he have 'influence'? I guess... but there are a lot of acts that I'd personally put in before him.

I can respect your opinion in personal favorites, but geez - Diamond has been a huge "Rock" influence in that bridge between the 60s and 70s. There just weren't many screaming guitar rides back then.
